Discover a multitude of spring migrants along the southern shore of Lake Erie at beautiful Presque Isle State Park in Erie, Pennsylvania, where more than 320 species of birds have been recorded, including desirable warblers and other songbirds. It is also home to many owl, woodpecker, and heron species. It contains Gull Point, a sand plain sanctuary that hosts migrant shorebirds and terns. Presque Isle is an Important Bird Area and is nicely located on a major migration corridor. Anything could show up!
The 2023 festival features field trips to all the hotspots and workshops for every level, from Birding 101 to Native Plants for Backyard Birds. Our Keynote this year is David Lindo, also known as The Urban Birder, who is a broadcaster, writer, speaker, educator, and bird tour leader. His mission is to engage city folk around the world with the environment through the medium of birds. Every full-weekend registrant will receive a copy of his book, How to Be an Urban Birder. His presentation--A World of Urban Birds—will take us around the urban world in 30 birds.
Also- good food, great camaraderie, a welcome reception on Friday evening with music and fun; lots of friendly helpful people and a small ticket auction, to boot. You may take home something special.
We are a small festival, limited to 150 attendees with no crowds, but desirable migrant species. All skill levels welcome.
