Second county record. Sandhill Crane--1; May 7; Eaton Reservoir 2; May 8; Thompson Circle on the ground 4; May 9; over inland ponds on Presque Isle Little Gull 1; May 8; Gull Point Black Tern 2; May 6; Edinboro Lake American Golden Plover 1; May 9; Beach 7 breakwater. Fourth spring record for Erie County Piping Plover 1 adult banded at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore; May 4 to at least May 7; Gull Point Willet 1; May 5; Gull Point Clay-colored Sparrow 1; May 9; east pier Summer Tanager 1; May 10; Niagara boat launch Pine Siskins are still present in good numbers, mostly at feeding stations or over the Presque Isle Hawk Watch Black Vulture 1; May 11; over the Presque Isle Hawk Watch at the TREC American Golden Plover 1; May 12; Gull Point Piping Plover 1; continues to at least May 14; Gull Point Kentucky Warbler 1; May 15; Fry's landing Clay-colored Sparrow 1; May 14; behind the Ranger's station Some typically uncommon spring birds reported this week include: Black-bellied Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Short-billed Dowitcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher (rare on Presque Isle), Alder Flycatcher, White-eyed Vireo, Philadelphia Vireo, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Northern Parula, and Pine Siskin. Unidentified heron yet to be determined (resembles Tricolored Heron or perhaps a hybrid)--1; May 24; Presque Isle Hawk Watch at the TREC. Two images were taken.
